Washers & Dryers

Washers & Dryers

Another true tale to jump this post off on. It was a new apartment, the renting days, and most times when you rent an apartment there are a few assumptions you make. One, the apartment will have a refrigerator. Two, the apartment will have a stove. And three, the building (a bonus if the apartment has one) will have a washer and dryer for the residents.

The apartment was finally chosen for several good reasons, but three of those reasons were not due to a great fridge, stove or washer/dryer. In fact, it had none of the three. None! Crazy, but the location was spectacular, and the price was right, so the trigger was pulled, but then the hard part – getting all those appliances into said apartment.

The fridge and stove came first, necessities of course. And while money was saved up for the washer/dryer, your loyal scribe performed the unthinkable – washing clothes in the bathtub. This lasted for some time, perhaps 5 to 6 weeks. It was laborious, tedious, pick a synonym and plug it in. It was clear at this point that not only are washers/dryers necessary, but they are right up there with fridges and stoves. Must, must haves in any household, hands down.

Washers and dryers are sold separately, but also come in sets. For this post we are going to focus on the latter - the best sets available on the market today. First up, one of the best front loading sets you can buy is the LG WM3900HWA & DLEX3900. This is an energy efficient set from LG featuring a drum capacity of 4.5 cubic feet. Its size allows for oversized loads and there are a whopping 12 different cycle options. The knock on front-loading machines is their inability to thoroughly saturate and clean a real bulky load of clothes. Forget all that with this number as the reviews are nearly 100% positive on that end.

If you prefer a top loading machine, the Samsung WA54R7600AC & DVE54R7600C is a favorite among washing and drying enthusiasts. This is a niche group, some of the best smelling, best dressed folks you’ll come across. They wash and dry in the most meticulous fashion, always happy and eager to share stain removal tips. This group raves about this offer from Samsung, complete with a black stainless-steel washer drum and an impeller plate on the inside that leaves more room for bulky items. While the washer commands center attention, we shouldn’t sleep on the dryer here. Moisture sensors, a vent sensor that alerts to clogging, these all improve the safety and efficiency of the dryer and are excellent added value.

We didn’t mention price on either so not to frighten off the reader. Yes, these are both pricey, and yes, spending money on a washer and dryer is not exactly a sexy proposition. You could hit the bar and bring the receipt and spec sheet and see if that riles up any interested suitors, but it’s a long shot. Again, buy these for you, your impeccably pressed clothes and clean body will go hand-in-hand with this decision. Happy washing (and drying).

I absolutely enjoyed reading this post and I totally agree with the author here. I purchased an LG WM3488HW All-in-one Compact washer/dryer almost a year ago and trust me it is a blessing. I would not trade it for the world because this Washer/ Dryer combo is the much needed household item and it gives me sheer peace of mind when I throw my dirty laundry in the wash before going to work and come home to clean and dry clothes

Samsung WA54R7600AC is my personal favourite and every word they have mentioned here is true about it. It was genuinely one of the best investments we made in our new house. Yeah, it was a little costly for our budget but one thing is for sure, it is definitely worth it. The ease it gives is simply appreciable!
