Projector Screens

Projector Screens

A good projector screen can move a presentation or movie/TV series, etc. from good to great. There’s a reason reviews of movies when seen in a theatre are typically more favorable than when viewed at home on a TV. You can say the same about a presentation. If you want to wow a room, presenting something on your laptop will stimulate a far different reaction as compared to figures, graphics, and design displayed on a large screen.

Projector screens have come a long way since their inception. Back in the old days, the light had to be just right to see the presentation or movie in all its glory, and the screen itself was manufactured in a very rudimentary fashion. Thankfully, these two areas have dramatically improved, and projector screens in 2020 are high-tech machinery, and well worth the investment.

There are a lot of screens on the market. You could spend a week researching, diving into specs, comparing online reviews, etc. Or you could take a look at the big sellers (here), and then use this as a guide. We suggest going this route!

Silver Ticket STR-169100 100-Inch Screen

We’re going to begin with arguably the most popular screen on the market. This model from Silver Ticket combines an affordable price, exceptional resolution, and reliability that rank as one of the best, industry wide. This particular model was released in 2014, but slight changes over the years have not compromised its performance. Wide, 160-degree viewing angles, coupled with a picture that does not suffer resolution loss, the STR is great for playing games, watching movies, or general projection in full, 1080p HD and Active 3D.

A final positive with the STR is it’s flame and mildew resistant, and if desired, you can even wash this model with soap and water. The only negative that surfaced with online reviewers was the inability to roll this screen up. This is an issue, no doubt. It’s a most popular screen, but it will be a permanent fixture wherever you mount it.

Elite Screens 135-Inch ezFrame

While the Silver Ticket is a big seller, the ezFrame from Elite Screens is nipping at its heels. This is an exceptional buy for those seeking an active 3D projection or 4K Ultra HD. The set-up is easy, and the black anodized aluminum frame is as solid as they come.

If there is a negative here, it’s the price tag. And that’s likely why the ezFrame has not overtaken the Silver Ticket STR as of yet. With that said, if you’re willing to pay a bit more, this screen features a material known as AcousticPro. It’s a transparent screen that is great for either a rear-speaker or hidden-speaker set-up. The whole experience is otherworldly, but so is the credit card charge.

Best Choice Products 119-Inch HD Indoor Pull Down Projector Screen

We’d be remiss if we didn’t include a budget friendly screen. Rectangle screens are commonplace in the greater projector world. This screen, however, stands up to the rectangle contingent and goes with a solid square design. From a space perspective, this is ideal in a lot of ways. By distributing the angles equally, you can fit this screen in places where a rectangle screen (due to width constraints) could not. This Best Choice model is 84-inches x 84-inches. The display is fantastic, but the price is even better.

We’re not recommending these three screens, but whatever screen you go with, do compare it with these three. This is good, base information to begin with. A projector screen is a big buy, best to go about it intelligently.
