Outdoor TVs

There are few things better in life than the combination of sun, food and drink, friends and family, and entertainment. The latter part of this equation can come through music or dance, but it can also come via an outdoor TV! Outdoor TVs and projectors used to be rudimentary set-ups. In fact, many folks would simply transport their indoor TV to the outside deck, and viola … an outdoor TV! The problem with this is the outdoors, and even covered patios, are still outdoors. There aren’t four walls protecting you from the elements. If the wind comes whipping through, or the sun is overly strong, whatever you’ve got outside will invariably be affected. Over time many people learned the hard way that an indoor TV or movie projector was not going to cut it outdoors. When we say the “hard way,” we mean their TVs and projectors were absolutely ravaged by wind, rain, ice and the sun. Outdoor TV manufacturers took notice and embarked on the manufacturing of TVs and projectors that could stand up to Mother Nature, and still project quality entertainment. The outdoor TV and projector was born, and the results have been nothing short of exceptional. The first thing to keep in mind before pulling the trigger on an outdoor TV is the placement. This is where mounting comes into play, and simply mounting the TV where you think it will look good or cover enough territory (in terms of folks being able to see it) is not advised. Yes, you should consider mounting it where most people will be able to enjoy it, but you also need to keep in mind the power source. Something needs to power said TV or projector, and that’s going to come from an outlet. Once you know which outlet your wiring is going to feed out of, while in theory you can purchase wiring as long as the Nile, nobody wants giant cords disbursed throughout the outdoor patio. It’s unsightly, and you’re better than that. Second, not any wiring will do. There is special, outdoor electronics wiring that is weatherproof, especially as it relates to sun. UV rays can cause the most damage to wiring, so when you’re at the hardware store, keep these things in mind. And lastly is the cover. Outdoor TVs and projectors can put up with some pretty extreme weather, but it’s best not to test it. A quality cover will provide yet another layer of protection and maintain all elements at bay. There are some inexpensive covers out there, but we recommend avoiding them. Whatever savings you register in not purchasing a more expensive cover you’ll end up paying in replacement costs (or worse) once your TV is ruined in a hailstorm. In terms of the TVs and projectors, the Furrion Aurora is a popular pick. Its 4K Ultra HD screen churns out four times the resolution of a normal HD unit, and this TV also has what’s known as “350-nit brightness.” This enables the TV to adjust to dark and bright conditions automatically. On the projector side, the JWSIT Projector Screen is lightweight, mobile, extremely sturdy (all aluminum), and the screen itself is wrinkle-free. Long gone are the days of projecting the Super Bowl on a screen with creases and other irregularities. Some other brands to keep an eye on are WiMiUUS as well as QKK. Both are leading manufacturers in this arena and keep the entertainment top-notch, outdoors, throughout the US and abroad!
