Garage Storage Sets
Folks have a love/hate relationship with their garage. It’s a fantastic space if you have one, extremely practical for housing your car along with a host of other tools, miscellaneous items, and junk (that you should probably throw out at some point). If you live in a big city that is highly dense in terms of population, your garage is likely smaller than someone in Kansas. But regardless of the size, a good garage storage set is a must.
Prior to purchasing a storage set (and we’ll list a handful of the leading sets later on), you need to take stock of what you already have. While this might sound overwhelming, we first recommend taking out all your tools, clearing out a space on the garage floor, and laying them out. Then, begin by separating like items with like items. For example, all screwdrivers with screwdrivers, washers with washers, drill bits with drill bits, etc. At this point you’ll have two dozen piles or so, and the best part, you’ll be able to eliminate things you know you never use.
Next, if you already count on some sort of storage item (be it shelves or a table with dividers), begin by storing everything according to what’s known as the “top-down method.” Far from complicated, this method suggests placing the lightest item on top, be it the top drawer or top shelf, and the heaviest items on the bottom. Most folks begin with screwdrivers and other light items up top, and you might be tempted to combine screws and washers and nuts as well. We suggest otherwise, however. Carve out some space to the side for these items as they’ll get easily lost up top.
Next, you’ll place your medium weight items in the center drawer or shelf, and then your heaviest ones on the bottom. While it’s likely you’ll want or need a new storage set, this method is a great method to employ moving forward regardless of your purchase. If you remember in your head – light on top, heavy on the bottom – and stick to it, you’ll never wonder where a specific tool is again.
2x4 Basics Work Bench
One of the top selling garage tool sets, the 2x4 Basics bench is a wood bench, consisting of four workbench legs and six shelving links. The bench can be customized to nearly any plausible set-up you desire, and the brackets make hooking and unhooking the shelves super easy. All of the shelves are 90-degree cuts so there’s no need to keep track of different angled parts.
Sunix Power Tool Organizer
If you have a plethora of power tools laying around, this organizer from Sunix is ideal. The organizer has space for up to five power tools, hung upright, plus a shelf above for the accessories. An added plus is then another shelf up above where you can store additional items if necessary.
StoreYourBoard Garage Pro Rack
Most of us have an assortment of tools. This can be anything from rakes to hammers, hoses, or shovels. This rack takes this reality into account and has space for nearly every tool under the sun. Size is not an issue either as the StoreYourBoard rack can accommodate some serious weight. The days of collapsing racks or bending wood due to extreme weight won’t occur here.
There are plenty more where these came from, but based on online reviews these three are the hot sellers. Get that garage in order this weekend. You’ll sleep better, we can guarantee that!
