Car Companies

Oh, we’ve arrived! There isn’t much we love better than writing on cars, and car companies are the proud papas of those wonderful mechanical darlings. It is hard not to cherish a car - it gets us from A to B safe and sound, is a wonderful daily companion, and looks and drives great at that!

So, where does all this wonderfulness spring forth from? Well, as with any industry, there are some classic manufacturers and Cadillac is certainly one in the car world. Founded in 1901, Cadillac has Henry Ford to thank in large part for its birth. The legend had founded the Henry Ford Company, but he later left due to disagreements. The company he left later renamed themselves Cadillac and the rest is history. Another giant in the manufacturing sphere is Fiat. Giovanni Agnelli from Italy is the man behind this behemoth and the full name of the original company was Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino. This translates to Italian Automobiles Factory, Turin, where the first Fiats were made. Fiat now owns Chrysler Automobiles and continues to be a major player in the automotive game.

Peugeot opened its doors to the public in the early 1800s, 1810 to be exact. The French firm began by manufacturing bicycles and then moved into everything but cars – coffee, salt, pepper, etc. They were grinders and founder Armand Peugeot eventually became interested in auto manufacturing. As a family that made bikes and grinded stuff, how hard could manufacturing a car be? Peugeot released their first car in 1889 and have been roaring along ever since. Mercedes-Benz is an auto staple and got its start a bit later than Peugeot (1926) but has been an absolute monster in the car game going on close to 100 years. The German manufacturer started experimenting with small race cars and then focused more intently on commercial models.

Skoda, while not known Stateside, is a one of the world’s oldest manufacturers, commencing its business in Austria/Hungary in 1905. Acquired by Skoda Works (an industrial conglomerate) and then renamed Skoda Auto, in 2000 it became part of the Volkswagen Group and is a big provider throughout Europe. Land Rover is a U.S. favorite, in addition to being quite possible in Asia, Australia and parts of Europe. Formed in 1896 in England under the name the Lancashire Steam Motor Company, the firm first produced steam lawn mowers and then moved into vans. In 1968 they changed their name and then changed it once again to The Rover Group in 1986. The actual Land Rover brand was later cemented in 1978.

There are of course a host of other brands, but these are the oldest and the ones that are still running strong today. If you lived 80 years ago your choice in cars was limited. Today, it’s like a kid in a candy store, the sky is certainly the limit!

Cars are definitely love. I have a special heart chamber for cars. My grandpa owns 1981 Honda Accord and it is still in our possession. This car is just awesome and I till run it when I get a chance. I have a 2018 Accord and it is like our family car. Yes, there are plenty of choices today but it is like a strong bond that cant be share to any other brand. We just love our Honda Accord since generations.
