Alarm Clocks
What’s the worst moment of your day? No matter how old you are? It’s not an easy question, but the answer will have you nodding in unison – it’s when the alarm clock goes off in the morning. But of course, that annoying sound that we all have to deal with at various hours every morning. Some of us are stirred out of fabulous dreams with flying tigers and unicorns at ungodly times, while others have the luxury of sleeping until 8 or 9AM but are still annoyed once that buzzing goes off. It’s natural, we all need to wake up, and alarm clocks, for all the punishment they take, are necessary items for all of us.
In 1787 an American inventor by the name of Levi Hutchins invented what many agree was the first mechanical alarm clock. It was a personal device that awoke Mr. Hutchins at 4AM even though he didn’t need to be up so early. Rather, Hutchins liked to get his day started before sunrise, and felt more productive once he did. Thanks to Hutchins though, other inventors caught word of this wonderful device and eventually patented it. The rest is history as the entire alarm clock industry took off and soon every responsible adult with a job or children had an alarm clock next to their bed. It is likely not a stretch to proclaim that half the planet probably has some sort of apparatus that wakes them everyday. If it’s one of these that we’re going to review, they’re in great shape!
American Lifetime Premium Day Clock
The first thing that smacks you in the face when you lay your eyes on this clock is its size. The American Lifetime is large, and with an 8” display it’s hard to miss. Second, the HD resolution on the American Lifetime is some of the best in its segment. The display text color can be switched between yellow and white, and there are some cool, additional features like medical reminders or similar reminders that you can personalize.
The only downside to this clock is the lack of a snooze option. This isn’t great, but it’s certainly not a deal breaker.
LBell LB01 Sunrise Alarm Clock
By far one of the most unique designs on the market, this clock from LBell is as futuristic as they come. Couples that with the ability to interchange 8 separate colors and an astounding 20 different brightness settings, you can wake with this clock in any manner you desire. The LBell is smaller than most competing clocks, has weak FM radio reception, and the buttons can be confusing at first. But if you’re able to shake off those criticisms, this clock performs fantastically.
Travelway Home LED Digital Alarm Clock
Travelway was aiming for simplicity with this clock, and they might have also achieved perfection. The only criticisms we could find were the snooze time not being adjustable, and there was only one alarm tone. Outside of that, this clock has a plethora of positive reviews online. It sports a large LED display, backup battery power, and a handy nightlight on the top of the clock. The giant display features red numbers that can also be adjusted, and a glow-free light that won’t keep you awake at night.
Are you craving a nap so you can test one of these out? Waking up is never fun, but with any of these three at least you can do it in style.
