Exercise Bikes

For many of us, January is one of those months when plans are made. Coming off the classic New Year’s resolution, “I’m going to start writing that book,” or “2019 will be the year I’ll finally get my own business up and running.” Another popular one is exercise related. Proclamations to lose 10 pounds before March, or run a half-marathon, or be able to show up on the beach in June/July tone and in-shape. If exercise is your thing, or continues to be your thing from years prior, that’s great news. There’s nothing better you can do for yourself then get your body in shape and performing in peak condition.

One of the best types of exercise you can engage in is cycling. Low-impact, you don’t put a lot of stress on your joints and if you do it right, calories are sure to be burnt. Now, there is cycling outdoors of course, but you can also do it in the comfort of your bedroom, office, den, what have you, right in front of the T.V. if you want on a stationary exercise bike.

The exercise bike world is extensive and ever-evolving. We’re going to break down the best options on the market today per a handful of popular categories.

Best Overall Bike

One of the best in the Best Overall category is the Sunny Health & Fitness Belt Drive Indoor Cycling Bike. Available on Amazon and other retailers, this near-silent stationary bike weighs a solid 47 pounds which makes the ride feel extra sturdy and complete. The seat is fully adjustable that you can quickly adjust while riding to mix up positions. Priced in the $300 range it won’t break the bank either.

Best Spinning Bike

By spinning we mean for “spinning” enthusiasts. Spin classes have taken off and instead of shelling out hard-earned cash to join a gym and have a guy named Rocko in spandex yell at you while blasting house music, you can do the same (house music included, Rocko not) at home with the Peloton Bike. Fabricated of carbon steel, this bike is connected to studio classes that you can tap into via the mounted screen and participate 24 hours per day. Pretty cool feature, as is the ability to track your goals and progress throughout the year.

Best Upright Bike

Some folks would rather have a more full-body workout when riding, and if that’s your thing then the Marcy Exercise Bike is the route to go. The handles have a great foam grip which allows you to swing away with your upper body while pedaling at the same time. This bike is far from silent however, but folks like the installed fan as it makes them feel as if they’re truly riding along a path. From a workout perspective you’ll be hard-pressed to find something so complete.

Best Bike for Small Spaces

Lastly, many of us live in confined spaces and need something we can easily fit that doesn’t take up a lot of space. The ProGear Foldable Magnetic Upright Bike is the most compact exercise bike on the market. Budget-friendly, foldable, upright with a dual-transmission flywheel, this bike also features an LCD display, something uncommon on a bike this small.

Hopefully you fall into one of these four categories, likely you do. Happy cycling!
