Electronic Health Records Software

Electronic Health Records Software

Otherwise known as EHR or even EPR (electronic patient record), the software that powers the collection and management of health records is making the job of hospital administrators worldwide a heck of a lot easier. LThe best thing about EHR software is health care records can now be shared on collaborative networks regardless of where you are or where you registered your last medical visit. EHRs contain a range of information, including but not limited to medical history, demographics, medication, immunization status, radiology images, vital signs, allergies and personal statistics such as weight, height, age and billing information.

A little over a decade ago EHR systems were marketed as a manner of increasing the quality of care. This has occurred of course but their ability to store data and subsequently move it to third parties is frankly unparalleled. Take for example a case where someone is picked up in an ambulance after a nasty auto accident. Ambulances can now be outfitted with the technology to tap into patient sharing systems and access EHRs in real time. This type of information, timely especially in a life or death situation, is highly useful.

One of the more popular HER systems is AdvancedMD. This is a full-feature, comprehensive platform that delivers at its core an easy to use interface and excellent integrations with complementary platforms. Pricing is custom, which makes your individual needs completely negotiable and highly adaptable. This is a big system however, and it takes some time to find your way through the basics and onto more advanced areas. An initial set-up and training fee is charged and even at a minimum cost level AdvancedMD remains a leader in this sphere.

Kareo is another great option and geared at smaller, independent practices as opposed to large, sprawling hospital centers. As such, you won’t get bogged down with features you cannot or do not need/use, and the cloud-based interface is so user-friendly that training (and the costs that come with it) is a non-starter. Kereo is also unsurprisingly one of the cheapest options out there and doesn’t call for a contract term to use its services. The aim here is a market niche and they do that quite well.

Last but not least, CareCloud Charts. Featuring a sensible pricing structure, this is a super simple interface, like AdvancedMD in many respects. Flexible pricing with CareCloud is front and center, and you’ll never end up paying for more than you need. They have an excellent customer care team that is interested more in building and maintaining exceptional long-term relationships rather than trying to milk you for as much cash as they can in the short-term.

There are literally dozens upon dozens of EHR systems, but these three continue to lead the pack. It’s a growing industry, and our collective good health depends on it, that’s for sure!
