Dental Insurance

There is nothing better than a guy or gal with a beautiful smile. Now, a beautiful smile can be formed and fashioned several ways. The shape of the lips and cheeks certainly help, and some people naturally smile better than others. There’s no handbook on that, it just happens. But there is one thing you can control when it comes to your smile. And that’s your teeth.

I know what you’re thinking, “I was born with these bucky-beavers, even with braces they are what they are!” Ok, perhaps, but nowadays even the most complicated set of beavers can be worked on and fashioned into a passable work of art. Not to mention the whitening techniques available as well. As far as the medical profession is concerned and the overall evolution of the sector, dentistry has taken some tremendous leaps. Although it is normally secondary to primary medical care in importance, knowing the good and respectable dental insurance providers out there is invaluable information.

A great family dental insurance provider is UnitedHealthOne. This provider offers individual and employer plans in roughly 40 states as well as the District of Columbia. The company received an “A” rating from the industry standard A.M. Best, and individual deductibles start out at $50. You will also never pay a deductible at a family level if your family is comprised of three plus members. The annual maximum one person will pay with this plan is $1,000 and the plan pays 35% for the basic services (post-deductible) and then 15% for major services, again post-deductible.

If your family is currently on a tighter budget, look no further than Delta Dental. Not as comprehensive as UnitedHealthOne, Delta does cover 15 states and counts on the same A.M. Best “A” rating. Within Delta two plans stand out – DeltaCare USA and Delta Dental PPO. The former is plan very similar to an HMO where one chooses the primary care dentist and you see all costs upfront. No waiting and better yet, no annual maximum or deductible. On the latter, one would use the licensed dentist of your choice with discounts worked in if said dentist belonged to the preferred dental network. The services are covered on a percentage basis of the rental fee and depending where you live coverage does vary state by state.

Lastly, if discounts are your thing (of course they are, discounts are everyone’s thing!), Humana Dental insurance is an exceptional choice. Human will offer dental insurance plans for groups, employers, individuals, you name it. Best yet is the discount part, featuring special discounts for combining services – vision and dental for example. There is a great package for veterans where the patient pays a $50 deductible and then $150 per family. Routine cleanings and some x-rays are then 100% covered. A similar plan exists with the Dental Preventive Plus plan providing both in and out of network cleanings at $50 and then the same deal on the x-rays.

After writing all this I’ve decided to make a dental appointment. Why not, it’s good for your health and good for your smile. Your significant other (or future significant other) will certainly thank you.
