Sometimes we feel like we start every post with the question, “have a week?” We’re talking appliances today, and honestly, got a week? This could go on for an eternity, and while we likely don’t have an eternity we do have 10 minutes, so we’re going to dig deep and flesh out some invaluable appliance information, just for you (and of course whatever human being you decide to share this with).

Before jumping into appliances as a broad category, nowadays nearly the first question before the appliance in this case is where to buy said appliance. Naturally, there are some spots that are better choices than others. Purchasing home appliances for example is a big first step and things like washing machines, refrigerators and dishwashers are expensive. They’re also extremely useful so choosing wisely is a good move.

Home Depot is one of the leading U.S. retailers for appliances. A simple shopping experience is what draws folks in, knowing that the abundance will be there as will a host of stores (1,000 plus to be exact nationwide). Everything from budget-friendly machines to super sophisticated smart-home gadgets, Home Depot is the first stop for many. Add on top of that the “Special Buy” promotions and the overall savings over the long-term are notable.

Next up are the good folks at Lowe’s. This is an absolute appliance wonderland, chalk full of all the major players in washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators. Major name brands such as LG, GE, Whirlpool, Maytag and Samsung are ever-present and the staff are some of the more knowledgeable in the appliance game. A cool perk with Lowe’s is if you find competitors with matching prices Lowe’s will step up and match or even offer the same product for less. This is a giant plus as you can likely imagine.

So now that you’re at Home Depot, Lowe’s, or any similar establishment, keying in on brands is the next task at hand. One of the most trusted brands in the large appliance arena is Whirlpool. Durable to a tee, Whirlpool appliances rarely break down, receive high marks for customer service, and also cover the kitchen and laundry room with a variety of basic oven ranges to refrigerators and laundry appliances.

LG is another safe bet, and according to J.D. Power the company ranks the highest in oven ranges, dryers, washers and top-mount freezer-fridge setups. You’re thinking, that’s a heck of a lot of appliances! We read your mind, and it’s no wonder LG has notched seven J.D. Power awards in 2017 spanning ease of use, reliability, styling/appearance and performance among others. On a similar spectrum is Samsung, considered by many to be in that luxury appliance brand range, and far worth the price if you’re willing to drop a bit extra for some serious value. The cool thing of course about Samsung is you can also leverage some extra synergy via the incorporation of Samsung smartphones, etc. into the Samsung environment.
